Friday Favorites 5.27.2016

Well HELLO Friday!!!
It's been a good week at the Butler house! We've had less tears than normal! Wahoo! That's a a big win in my book.

I'm linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea to talk about our Friday Favorites!

{One}
This right here is summer!! Playing in the water sprinkler, in your undies, with your cousins! It doesn't get much better than that!

Fisher was hiding out in the playhouse,

until he was ambushed!

I've said it a hundred times, but being close to family is my favorite. I love that these boys are growing up together. They have the best time playing. (and fighting some too!)

And just for fun, here are the big cousins two years ago!

{Two}
This cowboy has new favorite boots! Giddy up!

And Baker has been sporting his favorite boot too. Yes boot, look closely. #toddlerfashion

{Three}
Did you check out my Owning It: Claiming the Crazy post yesterday? You can head over to Erika's blog to see my guest post! Who knew I was so crazy particular. It was one of my favorite posts to write! Thank you for still being my friends!

{Four}
After yesterday's Owning it Post, I wanted to clarify one thing!

My house isn't perfect. HA! I realized after people commented that it sounded that way! Woops. I struggled with organization big time! (and putting away clean laundry!)  I wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong idea now!

 #keepingitreal

But let's pretend that it looks this clean all the time.

{Five}
One more Alaska picture for the week. I highlighted it on Tuesday as my favorite vacation ever!

{Six}
Have I mentioned that my mom is a librarian? Well we visited her library on Thursday and I stocked up on some good books!

And so did Baker.

I already finished Miracles from Heaven. Have you read it yet? It's a quick read and I really enjoyed it.
But, I feel like it should have a big stamp on it that reads, Warning: grab a box of tissues!

Being a mama has sure made me more sensitive. I cried several times through this book. I could just feel the pain of this sweet family. There were also several moments of ugly cry sobbing. I don't want to ruin anything, but if you've ever read this book or Heaven is for Real, then you know they both touch on the same subject. Both revolve around young kids who experience heaven. It's a tiny part, but both kids meet siblings who died during pregnancy. Cue all the tears. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Happy Memorial Day weekend friends!

Are you curious?!
Here is a little hint...

What's Up Wednesday

It's time for What's Up Wednesday with Shay and Sheaffer.

1. What we are eating this week...
I can't get enough of this! It's olive bread with pesto, artichokes, olives, grape tomatoes, and goat cheese. I toast it for a bit, drizzled olive oil on top and then devour it. YUMMMM.

2. What I'm reminiscing about...

I blogged about my favorite vacation, Alaska, yesterday. I can't stop thinking about this trip! I want to go back!

3. What I'm loving...

Last week I snapped this picture with Baker.

And then this one of Fisher
#reallife

4. What we've been up to...
We spent this past weekend with the Garrisi family, some of our favorite people from our college days! It was fun to host them, and the boys did a few house projects!

They installed some speakers and then strung outdoor lights for our patio!
The best part was after the kiddos went to bed and Cat and I got to enjoy all their hard work!

We also took them out to Perini Ranch for a yummy lunch!! I had Jason's crispy sandwich of course, my very favorite!

Please notice all of the kids are sitting on the side with the mommies!!!! #momlife

The kids played and we all had the best time! They were the easiest guests ever! Seriously! Come back anytime Garrisi family!

5. What I'm dreading...
Car trips with the kiddos!! Does anyone else dread car trips? If you don't plan just right then they sleep the whole trip and won't sleep that night. The struggle is real!

6. What I'm working on...
We are trying to wrap up some unfinished house projects!! We are adding shiplap to the entry way, just like our dining room,

7. What I'm excited about...

My bestie, Deena, is coming to stay with me soon! I'm so excited to spend time together and let our kiddos play.

8. What I'm watching/reading...

I just started watching The Good Wife. I'm loving it!  It's one of the best shows I've watch in awhile!

I've also got a list of library books to pick up!

9. What I'm listening to...

We installed some speakers at our house!! So we've been streaming a lot of pandora (my husband has embraced west Texas so much that Western Swing is playing most days at our house, aka Daddy Music to Baker.)

10. What I'm wearing...
I picked up these denim shorts recently and they are so comfortable!

11. What I'm doing this weekend...
We are spending time with my hubby's family this weekend! I am excited to have a long holiday weekend with my little family!

12. What I'm looking forward to next month...
We've got a little beach trip planned! The last time we hit the beach I was 35 weeks pregnant and chasing around a 1 year old. Yikes! On the drive home, I had the worst contractions and wondered if baby Fisher was going to come early. I'm thinking I will enjoy it more this time around!

Somehow I don't have any pictures on the beach! I guess I was too pregnant to care! ha! But here is a glimpse of my big belly the week before at a wedding.

13. What else is new...
I have a really fun post planned for tomorrow!! Are you curious? You should be! Make sure you head back tomorrow to see what it is!

14. What I am looking forward to this summer...

This map is a big hint!! We are in full planning mode for our Napa trip!! I am so excited about this trip. Do you have any recommendations?

See you tomorrow friends!!

Show and Tell: Favorite Vacations

Happy Tuesday friends! Today I'm joining Andrea over at Momfessional to Show and Tell our favorite summer vacations!

It's posts like these that make me wish I had started blogging years ago!  I wish I could link to all the amazing trips that we've taken but instead I'm going to talk about my favorite vacation ever.

  In 2011 we took a family trip to Seattle for 3 days and then boarded a 7 day cruise through Alaska. It was an AMAZING trip.

First up was the Seattle portion. My siblings and I were all born in Washington state so this part of the trip was full of nostalgia.

We attended a Mariners game.

The Point Defiance Zoo, a childhood favorite.

We enjoyed picnics by the water.

And a drive up to Mount Rainier with beautiful views.

Our trip was rounded out with a visit to our old stomping grounds, Gig Harbor.

After three days of fun, it was time to head back to Seattle to board the cruise ship!

We enjoyed a few days at sea.

And then the most beautiful place on earth, Tracy Arm Fjord.

Seriously, how gorgeous is this view.

Skagway was next on our stop.
We rode the train up into Canada to this beautiful lake.

Then we panned for Gold.

And toured the city.

The next day was Juneau.

We saw the Mendenhall Glacier up close.

My favorite part of the entire trip was whale watching. We were hoping to see a whale breach, which we did, but what we saw next was even better.

We saw a large pod of Humpback Whales bubble net feeding. Look closely at these pictures. You can see inside the whales' mouths! They would all dive down in unison and then spiral back to the surface blowing bubbles to catch the fish in the middle. It was one of the most magnificent things to watch.

They did this over and over for about 30 minutes. Each time they would go under and come up in a different location. We were told they only feed like this a few weeks a year and it was rare to be able to watch them for so long.

We also saw lots of eagles on our trip.

And a few killer whales from the main cruise ship. We just didn't get a good picture of them!

The excursion ended up on a island with a delicious fish fry.

Then we headed to Ketchikan.

We toured the city and walk around Creek Street.

The last day of the cruise landed us in Victoria, B.C.

Everything about this trip was perfect. The family time, relaxation, and views were all outstanding. It's a trip I would love to go on again.
