Best of Abilene: Hamburgers

Last week, I stumbled upon the Best of Abilene 2016 awards. I thought it would be really fun to make it a goal to visit every single one of these places. I mean, for the sake of the people, I will try them all and report back! It's a sacrifice that I am willing to make. So stay tuned if you happen to live in my area and if you don't, I hope this make you plan a visit. P.S. we have a guest room!

We started off with the BEST hamburger in Abilene, made by Rock'n Rollerz Roll'n Grill.

Ya'll, just in case you didn't know, Rock'n Rollerz is a food truck! I think this speaks volumes about the quality of the food trucks in Abilene. They serve outstanding food. And spoiler alert: Rock'n Rollerz isn't the only food truck in the winners circle.

Here is a glimpse at their menu.

We decided to order two and go halfsies. Okay so halfsies is a made up word and my mom is cringing right now. Sorry mom! But honestly I just wanted to try more than one hamburger.

Rockin Rolla - Burger, with pepper jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, crispy fried onion rings, and topped with signature nasty sauce.

Poppin Johnny - signature burger with cream cheese, fire roasted jalapenos, bacon, crispy fried onion strings, and topped with house made jalapeno ranch sauce.

These burgers blew me away! Seriously, I thought they would be yummy but they were incredible. In fact, Austin and I both had different favorites! And let's talk about the fries for a moment, they were delicious. They were thin cut crispy fries. We didn't even use ketchup on them because they were that good.

I haven't tried every burger in Abilene but I have had a few burgers in my day. Both of these burgers  rank right up there at the top for me. I will be enjoying another one very soon. If you would like one too, you can find their schedule on their instagram page. Also Abilene just launched The Food Park! It's a food truck lot at 1089 S. First Street. We checked it out Friday night and had the BEST time.

When people ask me my favorite places to eat in Abilene, I immediately give them names of food trucks! So go check them out! Tell them I sent you, but they will probably look at you strange, since they have no idea who I am!! Oh well!

Happy eating friends!

Easter Weekend 2016

We kicked off our Easter weekend with an egg hunt at school. Baker was super protective of his basket and all his prizes inside.

This is about as good as it gets!

I made some Easter treats and my kiddos could not get enough!

On Friday night we watched a friend's little girl so they could enjoy a date night. It was a fun glimpse of what it would be like to have three kids!

We headed to the new Food Park to meet some friends. Listen, if you are local you need to make plans to visit the Food Park asap! The atmosphere was amazing. It is an empty lot that has been set up to accommodate different food trucks. The schedule varies but you can check it here.

We brought a blanket and sat on a grassy area. The kids played and kicked around a soccer ball. There are tons of really cool handmade picnic tables all over the food park to eat at as well.

We enjoyed ice cream sandwiches from The Sweet Side.
The kids were swarming me for bites!!

There was live music, twinkle light, lots of fun people and delicious food. My kind of place! I loved it and will be going as often as possible.

On Saturday we headed to my mom's to celebrate her birthday!!!

Happy birthday to Honey!!

We took a walk to the playground. All their bikes in a row cracked me up! The gang is all here!

The boys each took turns having accidents. HA!

Of course, we had to climb some trees!

And all of a sudden my 3 year old looks 10. SLOW DOWN TIME!

Fisher took a snack break.

Then we rode up to the BIG playground.

Just a few minutes after this picture, Baker had a really bad accident. He fell head first off the playground straight onto his head and his body bent in ways that aren't normal. By the Grace of God, he was still wearing his bicycle helmet. I am so thankful for that! I am also thankful that I didn't actually witness the accident because I'm pretty sure that Austin is scarred for life. After a few minutes of crying, Baker (and possibly Austin, just kidding) recovered and was completely fine!

Happy Birthday mom!!

On Sunday, we enjoyed our Easter full of family. I didn't take a single picture before we headed home from my mom's but it was a good day!!

The boys got a few Easter goodies from us! Not sure what is typical at everyone else's house but we decided any Easter goodies would be from us. Well that and Baker found my stash before Easter! ha!

Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend too.

Friday Favorites 3.25.16

Happy Friday friends!! We have had an extremely busy week around here! I am linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea for Friday favorites!

1. Family is one of my very favorite things!  Luckily we have been soaking up a lot of family time.

This is their favorite place to hang out a Honey's house. It's their special little spot.

Miss Hollis is the only girl out of 6 cousins. Isn't she gorgeous?!

All 6 cousins were born within 2.5 years. It is so fun and extremely crazy!

I can't get enough of little Parker's cheeks! His cheeks are on the top of my favorite list too!

2. Last weekend we got to attend another birthday at the gymnastic center. It is my favorite birthday spot because it is fun for everyone!

This is a pretty good summary of our life.

He did not jump! He really wanted to but he realized how far it would be when he got to the top.

But Baker jumped off everything he could.

3. Fire and SMORES!!!!

Fisher's favorite part is the chocolate.

And Baker wouldn't eat an assembled smore. He just wanted to eat all the parts individually.

4. New trees
We Austin planted 5 new fruit trees this week!

And then we watered them in our pajamas and bicycle helmet.

5. Easter crafts

On Tuesday I did a round up of my favorite Easter crafts from pinterest

So far, I have done two of them with the boys. They loved both activities and we will be trying out a few more this weekend!

My very favorite part of this week was date night. We have not had a date since ......June. Yikes!

It was NEEDED and we had a great time. We will also never wait this long for a date night again!
We went to The Mill.

We enjoyed wine.

And food truck hamburgers from Rock n Rollerz. (I'll be talking more about these hamburgers next week! They were AMAZING!)

Then, Austin owed me dessert for loosing a bet. I enjoyed some delicious cheesecake and even shared some with him.

We sat outside and enjoyed the evening while being serenaded with live music. We took our time eating and didn't have to cut up anyone's food or stop for a potty break. (side note: why do my kids ALWAYS have to go potty during meal time?!?!)

It was a great evening!

Happy Easter weekend!
