Friday Favorites 4.29.16

Happy Friday friends! I'm linking up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci for Friday favorites!

Every April 21st it's a tradition for Aggies to get together.

“If there is an A&M man in one hundred miles of you, you are expected to get together, eat a little, and live over the days you spent at the A&M College of Texas.”

Last week we joined the Abilene A&M Club at a cute barn in the country for the event.

The weather couldn't have been better and we had the best time! The boys ran around outside during most of the ceremony part and dug in the dirt!  I'm thankful to have attended a school that is so passionate about everything! The Abilene muster had around 150 former students in attendance. It's instance camaraderie and I love it. #gigem

2. Baker rode his first horse this week!!
His preschool had western day and the Hardin Simmons 6 white horses made an appearance. All the kids got to ride and Baker couldn't stop talking about the "brown" horse. Hearing him talking about all the fun he has at school is my favorite! I love listening to him jabber on about his friends and all the fun they have.

3. Fisher's new favorite thing is the BIG red slide at church. It goes from the second story all the way down to the first story. He has been wanting to do it for weeks and finally got brave enough to give it a go!

See how big it is!!!!

He was very proud of himself and wanted to go over and over and over again!

4. On Wednesday we had some work done around our house, so the boys and I headed to our favorite coffee shop/playground.

I borrowed this photo from their website. Isn't this the coolest place ever!

My kids always have the best time playing. I can enjoy a coffee and chat it up with some other moms!

We played for almost 3 hours because I was trying to keep them out of the house as long as possible. Then we grabbed lunch at chic-fil-a and enjoyed a picnic.

It was an exhausting day but we are so close to being completely done with our renovation work!! I can see the end and it was worth it!

5. I have plans to go to one of my favorite places this weekend with my sister!!
The weather isn't looking great so I'm hoping it clears up so we can do some shopping!!

Hope everyone has a happy weekend!!!!

What's up Wednesday

I'm linking up with Shay and Sheaffer for What's up Wednesday. We are answering the following questions:

1. What we're eating this week...

2. What I'm reminiscing about...

One year ago we decided to make the move to Abilene!

Then we decided to buy this house...

And turn it into our dream home.

3. What I'm loving...
Our house ^^^ see above! I am really enjoying our house and finishing up all the remodel details.

4. What we've been up to...
Lots of yard work! Our outdoor space got really neglected last year, so we are concentrating on it now.

We planted 5 new trees.

5. What I'm dreading...

Yard work^^^ see above!!

6. What I'm working on...
Right now I'm working on refinishing this little table. It had a lot of texture to it, so I had to sand it all down before I could paint it. It has already been a lot more work than I expected! Isn't that the way projects always work!

7. What I'm excited about...

We are headed to Napa this summer!! This month we booked our flights and now we are finalizing the rest of our trip! Anyone have any winery tips? Where are the must see places?

8. What I'm watching/reading...
I bought this book last year but never read it! I'm working on it now!
I just finished up the 3rd season of When Calls the Heart.

And since I'm a reality TV show junky, I'm looking forward to The Bachelorette! Honestly, it's been a few seasons since I've stuck with it the entire season. I'm hoping JoJo comes through for me!

I watched Parenthood when it was on TV and I loved it! Two of my besties are watching it right now and texting me about it. I had some down time this week, so I started it over. Ya'll, I cried during the opening theme song. Nothing had even happened yet. The show has literally conditioned me to cry at the sound of the song. I'm not sure if that means that it's just that good of a show or if I'm completely crazy?! #teambraverman

9. What I'm listening to...
Whatever happens to be playing on the radio in the car!

10. What I'm wearing...

I got this Oliver and Otis shirt in the mail last week! It was perfect timing to wear it to Aggie

I've been wearing this jacket a ton!

11. What I'm doing this weekend...
I have big plans to hang out with my sister! That little baby nugget is coming with us, but the rest of the kiddos are staying at home. I'm excited to have some sister/grown up time!

12. What I'm looking forward to next month...

We've got some plans to hang out with family! I love a good family weekend.

13. What else is new...
Not a lot!!

14. What's your favorite Mother's Day gift to give or receive...

I love anything personalized!

Austin gave me this necklace on my first Mother's Day.

We added Fisher's initial after he was born.

I love these Farmgirlpaints custom cuffs too.

This is the one we gave my mom for Christmas.

And the one I had made to remember Baker's sweet 2nd year.

That's all for today!

Happy Wednesday Friends!!

Let's Talk: Makeup and Hair

Happy Monday friends! Today I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea for Let's Talk. We are chatting up all things hair and makeup today.

When it comes to makeup, I am no fuss! The quicker the better for me right now. I know it comes with the territory of having young kids and someday I'll have lots of free time to primp and pamper myself.

I can do all my makeup in 5 minutes.

These are my 5 essentials.
bareminerals foundation
time balm concealer - (I just ordered Younique concealer to try)
Blush - Chubby Stick - (this stuff is amazing! it stays on better than any blush I've ever used)

Aquaphor is one of my favorite products ever! I use it for my lips and any dry spots. I also use it for my kids if they have a diaper rash.

Let's talk about hair!
I have curly hair and about 2 years ago, they discontinued the hair product I had used for YEARS! I was bummed and determined to find the best product out there.

And here it is....
I normally pick mine up at Target.

It smells great and my hair doesn't frizzy or crunchy! Win! Win! Win!

So just in case you are curious, here is my hair routine.

1. Wash
2. Towel dry enough to get the dripping water out.
3. Brush through with Wet Brush (<== buy one here now! thank me later)
4. Add curl & style milk into all of my hair while scrunching
5. Scrunch a mall amount of mousse into hair (not too much!)
6. If I'm in a rush I will blow dry with a diffuser.
-my hair does best if I blow dry it with my hair upside down and scrunch with one hand.

7. If I have plenty of time, I might do this little trick.
Have you ever plopped before?! It works like a charm!

Best part about curly hair...
day two messy buns!

I can't wait to check out everyone else's favorite tips and products! Hope you have a happy Monday!
