Mrs. Melcher's Almond Tea

This tea is amazing. It reminds me of college. Austin's roommate Brian would often invite us to visit his parent's lake house. We loved going! His parents were so sweet and welcoming and we have so many great memories from our time there.

On my first trip to the lake, in March of 2007, Austin tore his hamstring skiing. Yes I said March!! It was cold and he had no business water skiing. Even though that weekend was a little painful for Austin, it is still a very good memory!! I laugh a lot when I think about that weekend.
(notice the crutches, that Austin's friend is holding for him...EKK!)

I have so many college memories at the lake house. One year later, in March 2008, Austin even asked me to marry him on their boat dock. SEE lots of amazing memories. That was one of the best days of my life!

After college we still spent lots of fun weekends at the lake house! When I think about the lake house, I think of swimming, skiing, wake-boarding, back porch fires, yummy food, fruit ice cream, dominoes and lots of good friend time.

Every time I make this almond tea it takes me back to all the good times at the Melcher lake house!
And makes me think of all of these people!!

In a 1 gallon container mix -
4 Tbsp instant tea
1 Tbsp vanilla
1 Tbsp almond extract
1 - 12 Oz can frozen lemonade

I love this tea and all the memories that drinking it brings!!

Make yourself a glass!! You won't regret it!

A People Party Craft Fair and Harvest Party!

Wow we had such a great weekend! I ended up meeting Carla, Hillary and Kelly up at the craft fair for shopping on Saturday morning. It was COLD and sooo windy but we had a great time!

They had shopping both inside and outside and I didn't snap any pictures outside! The awesome thing about this craft fair was the quality of the goods. I've been to a lot of craft shows! I can tell a good one when I see it! Everything was either handmade or locally designed. When you buy from these merchants you are supporting mommies and daddies, young college students, and local people with great ideas. You are helping people in your community create amazing products and utilize their talents. They work hard long hours producing and then selling their products. They are such hard workers and deserve our support! (can you tell my sister-in-love is in the handmade industry!)

Just look at how cool this building is - the floors, the exposed AC duct, the chandeliers, the brick!!! I just love everything about this room!

We hit up the photo booth! how fun!! If I was getting married or having a big party I would totally have a simply encourage photo booth

We ate lunch at 1881 food truck and it was AMAZING!!

It's really bright but I wanted you to see the menu!

This doesn't even look like food that came from a food truck. right??!

I got the N.E. clam chowder. It was SOOOO yummy. The tacos looked amazing too!

We ate in one of the silos by the fire and it was cozy!!

Here are the goodies I came home with! The shirt and mumbler (glass mug) are for me! and the candle and soap are for gifts! (I may have pick up a few other gifts that I can't show!)

On Friday I blogged about how Austin had been giving me birthday cards for the last few weeks to celebrate my 30th this week. It's so fun!! Well on Saturday morning before I went shopping he handed me this one from my sweet mom!
It just happened to have a little birthday $ on it so, once again, it was perfect card timing! So the shirt and mumbler were a birthday gift to me from my mom! HA! Thanks mom!! I love my gift!!

There will be another A People Party Productions craft fair in the spring!!! YAY!! I'll keep you updated!

Harvest Party

We hosted our new life group for a harvest party this weekend too!!

Here are a few keeping it real pictures of the party prep!
I love this picture. It's a pretty good show of this stage of life for us.

Yes I was still in my PJs! and Fisher always wants to be picked up! Real life! I just want to make sure I keep it real around here!

All set up and ready for yummy food!

We had a little craft station set up to make these for turkey hats.
My friend Andrea posted a tutorial for them last week! Baker loved making it!

The kids played on bikes and outdoor toys and had a blast running around.

About this time the mosquitoes starting swarming...bad. We moved the party inside and after that I barely snapped any pics! whoops!

We ate lots of food!! and played a few games and the kids went crazy! It was so fun and we are really enjoying getting to know our new friends. We can't wait to host again next year! (without the mosquitoes!)

We spent the rest of our weekend doing this....
We are rule breakers! We've always decorated the weekend before thanksgiving so that we are ready to celebrate Christmas!! It's my favorite season and I want to enjoy it as long as I can! We still fully celebrate the Thanksgiving season and being thankful. Speaking of, we are 4 people away from our Thankful30 goal!!

Hope everyone else had a great weekend too!!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday friends!! I'm linking up with Erika, Andrea and Narci for Friday Favorites!

1. I'm pretty excited about this weekend! We are headed to A People Party Productions fall craft fair! I did a post all about it this week so make sure you check it out! I would hate for you to see my favorite new goodies next week and feel like you missed out!

2. Baby kisses

Fisher is obsessed with giving baby kisses and it's my favorite! Baker always has to get in on the action too.

3. One of my favorite treats is ice cream.

This Tillamook is pretty good. And it tastes extra good out of a santa clause mug. BUT we are missing our Blue Bell. We happen to have an inside source that tell us it should be back on shelves in Abilene area on 12/14. WAHOOO!!! But only in pint sizes and smaller. I'll take it anyway I can!

4. Family pictures! This isn't necessarily my favorite day ever but it's a favorite to get the pictures back. I picked out everyone's outfits last week and on Saturday morning we were all set. Austin had a concrete pour so I was home alone getting the kids ready....when it came time to get Baker dressed it was major major meltdown mode. He kept telling me "I do not want to wear anything" or "that hurts." (where did he learn that one!?) I even had a back up outfit for him just in case but that wasn't pleasing him either. Luckily daddy came home and after a good long meltdown, we finally managed to get the kid dressed. Once we got to pictures he did great. I don't think we got any posed family pictures but hey that's just not the stage of life we are right now. I know I'm gonna love the pictures of my boys wrestling on this quilt that my Nana (my great grandmother) made.
To celebrate we went for donuts!
This place did not disappoint!! so yummy!! Do you see the sleeping baby? Pictures wore him out.
A little donut cheers! Our boys are obsessed with cheers-ing things. It's pretty funny.
Success!! (sorta)

5. Speaking of my Nana, my mimi (grandmother) has this wall in her house where we have been marking our heights for years.

I love that my Nana's name is on that wall. Even though she is no longer with us it's a great reminder of her presence. She was a great lady! Fiesty and amazing.

I added my boys to the wall too. This is a favorite family tradition for sure! I wanted something similar so I got a big ruler for my house. I'll take a picture to show when it's finally unpacked! HA! But I have been marking the boys heights on their birthdays.

6. Speaking of birthdays, mine is in 1 week. My sweet hubby gathered letters from my friends and family and he's been giving me one a day. It's such a fun way to start or end a day. I feel so blessed! Thank you for all the notes and thank you Austin for making me feel special. Love you all. These notes are my favorite and I'll be cherishing them for many years!!

When I was struggling with infertility, this verse just became my verse. It spoke to me and I loved it. A sweet friend sent it to me. The envelope said - to my person - and I immediately knew who it was from. I opened it up and strongly felt the need to pray for her. So I did and then I texted her to thank her. Turns out she really needed my prayer that morning. Of all the days Austin could have given it to me, he chose that day. It's amazing when God sends simple reminders of his love.

7. Our kitchen project is a big favorite this week!!

8.  We are hosting our harvest party this weekend with our new life group!!
I know it's going to be a favorite! I love getting to know new friends and who doesn't like a pot luck!

Well that's it for now!!! We are going to have a busy but super fun weekend! I hope you do too!!
