Amazing Completed Wood Floors!!

The floors were something we knew we wanted to redo as soon as we bought our house. We browsed pinterest to come up with the best inspiration pictures to fit our style.

As you can see we liked oak floors with more a natural finish.  We had dark floors at our previous house and wanted a lighter finish for our new floors.

After our floors were installed, we did samples 3 different times to get the exact look we wanted....

...and we were not exactly in love with the options.  The left stain is the natural floor with the sealer coat on it, the middle is a dark walnut and the right is golden brown.  When we put the sealer on the natural wood, it had a yellow tone to it...definitely not what we were going for.

So we started to play with variations.
We knew we wanted a much lighter color so we added some pastel coloring to the stain. We tried different percentages and then tried it in different sequences (pastel first or the darker stain first.)

We chose the very left stain. It has the pastel coloring mixed directly into the stain color.  Our flooring guys were happy with our decision because it meant they did not have to do two coats.

Have you ever seen something so beautiful!!!

I am in love with the color and the variation in the wood. This renovation has not been easy. The boys and I have spent 16 of the last 30 days gone because we couldn't be at our house. They really missed their daddy and I missed my husband. We also missed having a place that felt comfortable and like a home to us. We really haven't had that feeling since we sold our house in May.

Coming home to these beauties sure did ease the renovation pain and made it all feel worth while.

The boys love them too!! (and yes Baker is wearing a hanger as a belt!)

Our house is slowly coming together and finally starting to feel like our home. I can see the finish line! YAY!!! Now time to unpack!

Or maybe I should just lay here for a few minutes....

Friday Favorites September 25th

I'm linking up with my girls Erika, Narci and Andrea for Friday Favorites. This week was busy but really good! We spent our last week away from the house while our floors were being finished. I can't wait to finally unpack and truly LIVE in our house.

Here are the new floor samples. We chose the stain on the far left. I will show you some finished pictures next week! I might have peeked in the house today to see them and they are AMAZING!! I think they are my favorite thing we have done so far. I love them that much. We should be able to go home to finished floors on Saturday! YAY!!

The boys love to go to the library. My mom just happens to be their favorite librarian. We had to go visit this week since we were staying at her house....again.

How ironic are these pictures of Fisher eating fake food. This cracked me up. Fisher has some food issues but apparently his favorite food is plastic.

I got to spend some time with some of my favorite boys this week.
We did their favorite things.

Baker wrote the number 1 several times. He was really proud of himself. They've been working on writing at his school.
Fisher's favorite thing to do is climb. He is a monkey.
He was trying to climb out of the highchair.

The big boys like to climb behind the sofa at Honey's house and Fisher finally figured it out this week. He was sooooo proud.

My favorite has been holding this little man. Isn't he the sweetest!! This is my new nephew Parker. He is 2 weeks old today and I was also blessed with my first niece last week too!

All the boys found a favorite cowboy hat to wear! We just needed them last week for the rodeo.

We drove back to Abilene on Thursday so Baker could go to school and have donuts with dad. Going to school is one of Baker's favorite things. He skipped on Tuesday because of the floors and I hated for him to miss again. Wednesday night he even told me he was sad because he missed his friends.

After school we headed back Honey's house! Honey was going for a bike ride but Baker wasn't going to let her do one of his favorite things without him!

Hope you have a weekend filled with favorites! We are headed to another 6-man football game tonight and will hopefully get to see our finished floors on Saturday. I'm hoping to unpack a little too! Happy weekend friends!

West Texas Fair and Rodeo

The West Texas Fair and Rodeo was last week in Abilene. We took the boys to the parade, the fair and rodeo.
Here we are about to take on the fair!

We went on $1 night because we weren't sure what to expect. The rodeo hadn't started yet and we just didn't know if our boys were old enough to really enjoy it.

First up we checked out the llamas. Baker has a thing for mamamas.
So he got a little kiss from this one!

Then we headed to the petting zoo.

Baker loved touching and feeding all the animals.

Then he had to stop to have a dance party.
And drive a tractor.

We headed to the rodeo a few days later. Baker was excited to wear his "cowboy" hat.

And Fisher took a little nap.

We saw the Hardin Simmons six white horses again.

And then we got so caught up in the rodeo that I didn't take anymore pictures until the mutton bustin. If you've never been to a rodeo they let the young kids ride sheep and they get scored based on their ride. This little boy won and he just happens to be from my hometown and lives down the street from my mom!

We had a great week and enjoyed every part of the West Texas Fair and Rodeo. We can't wait to go back next year!
